Earl Cook Foundation Memorial Game
The Ft. Garry/Ft. Rouge Twins are pleased to announce our first Earl Cook Foundation Memorial Game on March 2, 2012 vs. the St. Boniface Riels at Century Arena (1377 Clarence Avenue). Game starts at 730.
Earl Cook lost his battle with cancer sadly on September 18, 2011 at the young age of 23. Earl was often found spending many nights watching and supporting the Twins. Even after a long day of chemo therapy he would still find the strength to make it out to watch his second favourite team play. After spending many trips down in Detroit, Earl made a special bond with head coach of the Detroit Red Wings Mike Babcock which included weekly phone calls supporting and encouraging Earl through his tough days with his battle with cancer and any other life advice Earl needed.
From a young age Earl was always fascinated with hockey and Detroit Red Wings became his number one team. From inside the Detroit Red Wings locker room, he was considered not only their number one fan and encourager but also took the role of an assistant coach. Darby and I (along with 26 others) were there to accept the award for him. It was a grand event, but could never compare to the grandness of Heaven.
